June 24 - Doolan's Heavy Haulage is relying on Scheuerle's Widening Trailer to transport heavy cargo across Australian states, where a vehicle's axle spacing or width must be changed on crossing state borders.

The Widening Trailer was developed by Scheuerle specifically to meet the requirements of the Australian and American markets, where it is not unusual that a transport has to cross several state line.

Due to the variable width of the vehicle, the loading area can be adjusted to suit the size of the cargo. Furthermore the distribution of the total weight can be altered during transportation, so that different regulating can be adhered to using just one vehicle.

The trailer relies of Scheuerle's pendulum axle technology. The twin-tyre axles are pendulum-mounted on hydraulically lifted rocker arms, and the hydraulic cylinders in the pendulum axles guarantee larger axle compensation, as well as a large displacement volume.

Doolan's has used the Widening Trailer to transport a Hitachi excavator, as well as locomotives across the country.

The trailer has proved to have an extremely high bending moment even when fully extended, and can also easily handle the tough operating conditions in the Australian outback, said Scheuerle.
