May 21 - The South Carolina Ports Authority (SCPA) has handled a total of 1.2 million tonnes of breakbulk cargo in the fiscal year to date, which is 4.5 percent ahead of plan.

The Port of Charleston handed a total of 698,229 tonnes of breakbulk cargo, while 460,209 tonnes moved through Georgetown.

SCPA also posted a 15 percent year-on-year rise in containers passing through the port, with total box volume climbing to nearly 900,000 containers in April 2015.
