MSC is upgrading its Australia Express service between Europe/Indian Ocean and Australia in September 2019 as a result of a partnership with CMA CGM.

The two container lines will operate a joint service linking Europe and the Mediterranean to the Indian Ocean and Australia on the southbound leg. On the northbound leg, the service will connect Australia to Southeast Asia, Indian Subcontinent and Europe.

The Australia Express service will operate with a fleet of 14 vessels, nine of which will be provided by MSC.

Hapag-Lloyd, meanwhile, is enhancing its Europe to Australia and Indian Ocean islands services, effective in the third quarter of 2019.

It will offer an increased sailing frequencies to and from Australian ports, with more connections and shipping options in both directions. The enhanced network will start with the first southbound sailing from Europe and will gradually replace the existing EAX service.

Elsewhere, Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) will boost its services to Japan, effective April 11.

The Japan/Hong Kong/Southeast Asia service (KTX6) will provide customers with more competitive and reliable services in the region, said OOCL. The new port rotation can be found on the OOCL website.
