Damen opens in Helsinki

Damen has opened an office in Helsinki as it looks to take advantage of Finland’s engineering expertise.

The presence in Helsinki will expand Damen’s capability in the ro-pax, cruise and offshore market segments, which the company entered last year following the launch of its Romanian yard, Damen Shipyards Mangalia.

By 2020, Damen Engineering Helsinki expects to employ around 30 staff.

Frank Rebel, manager engineering at Damen Shipyards, explained: “We are now focused on building the team and we already have two projects to start with: a cruise vessel and a ro-ro vessel.”
