Fednav inks additional Optimarin order

Optimarin has signed a contract to supply Canada-based shipping line Fednav with seven of its US Coast Guard (USCG) approved ballast water treatment systems.

Five of the Optimarin Ballast Systems (OBS) will be fitted on existing vessels within Fednav’s fleet of 63 ships, with two deliveries set for newbuilds.

This order is in addition to an agreement signed for five units last year.

Optimarin made its initial retrofit delivery to Fednav earlier this year, with its global engineering partner Goltens installing an OBS on board the multipurpose vessel Federal Kumano at the MPG Dolphin Shipyard in Varna, Bulgaria.
