December 17 - Denmark headquartered Thorco Shipping confirmed that its multipurpose vessel, Thorco Cloud, sank following a collision with a Stolt Tanker vessel.

Twelve crew members were on the Thorco vessel - six of them were rescued shortly after the collision, six are still missing and the search and rescue operation is ongoing.

A statement on the Thorco Shipping website read: "At the moment our primary focus is to find our crew and our thoughts go out to the families still in a state of uncertainty."

The collision with Stolt Commitment occurred on December 16, 2015 in the Singapore Strait, approximately 11 km off the Indonesian island of Batam.

Stolt Commitment, registered in the Cayman Islands, suffered only minor damage. Thorco Cloud, sailing under the Antigua and Barbuda flag, was primarily loaded with steel and headed for Brazil.

 "At this time, there are only limited details and information available. An investigation of the accident and a sea inquiry is currently being conducted and as soon as we have more information, we will update you accordingly," Thorco Shipping added.
