July 15 - In the US, Specialized Rail Transport was quick to act when a transformer failed at a southern Ohio power station.

When the customer called for delivery of a replacement unit, SRT co-ordinated the placement of a railcar, obtained rail clearances and worked with railroads to secure a special train service.

The expedited shipment from Houston took just two weeks from the time of receiving the customer's authorization to ship to the time the transformer was placed at the gates of the plant.

The rail specialist was also recently contracted to move a 34m long desalter vessel for a major domestic refinery expansion.

Loading the piece ahead of schedule, SRT's scope of work included tiedowns, railcar procurement, and rail transportation management, as well as assistance with in-plant clearances.
