November 18 - Sarens has acquired EUR63 million (USD66.7 million) worth of self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT) from trailer manufacturer Kamag for use in Tengizchevroil's (TCO) Future Growth - Wellhead Pressure Management Project (FGP-WPMP).

The SPMTs will be used to transport pre-assembled units and racks, along with associated oversize equipment, required for the TCO project in Kazakhstan.

Among the equipment purchased by Sarens are Kamag K25 SPMTs with 1,060 HP, as well as Kamag K24 modular trailers - raising the heavy transport provider's fleet of TII vehicles to over 2,000 axle lines.

HLPFI reported on September 20 that Sarens had been awarded what it claims is the largest contract in its history by TCO for the FGP-WPMP.

As part of the project, Sarens will offload, store, stack and transport modules to their respective installation points.

"We invested EUR34 million (USD36 million) in advance in the purchase of new equipment just to submit a tender for the project," said Wim Sarens, ceo of Sarens. "We were sure that our project expertise and commitment would get us the job - and were proven right."

For the duration of the project, which is scheduled to run from 2017 to 2020, Sarens is expected to deploy approximately 150 specialist personnel to various project locations, as well as 250 local professionals.
