August 24 - Tomorrow, August 25, the Port of Townsville, Australia, will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Port of Qinzhou in China.
The Qinzhou delegation will travel to Townsville to meet with Port of Townsville chairman Patrick Brady and general manager of trade and property Claudia Brumme-Smith.
China is already a significant trading partner for the Port of Townsville as its largest export destination for containers and general cargo; while Townsville exports significant quantities of mineral concentrates, such as copper, zinc and lead, as well as sugar and refined metals from the North Queensland region to China.
Future trade forecasts between China and the Port of Townsville are predicting significant increases in the exportation of these commodities.
