July 14 - TTS Handling Systems has agreed a contract with the Zamil Offshore Services company in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, for the design, associated engineering and supply of a transfer system for the latter's newly planned shipyard in Dammam Port, writes Ja

The contract has a value of about NOK28 million (USD51 million) and will be supplied in first half of 2013.

The transfer system is designed to optimise the smooth transfer of offshore and other commercial vessels that are being built to carry heavier loads but typically distribute weight unevenly along the keel length. Delivery will therefore comprise a fluid bed system with trolleys that distribute and even out peak loads on shiplift platforms, with winches on each side to help prevent overload during lifting.

The TTS equipment will enable efficient docking and transfer of vessels at the yard and be used for block handling during the production of new buildings. The total lifting capacity will be 8,160 tonnes.
