June 11 - The Dutch group Supermaritime is to build a breakbulk terminal in the Scaldiahaven in Vlissingen, the Netherlands.

This terminal will add a new activity to Supermaritime's package of services.

For the Zeeland ports, the new terminal will mean an increase in capacity for handling general and project cargoes.

The new terminal will become operational later this year on the nine ha site in the Scaldiahaven, with Supermaritime gaining access to 375 m of quay in total, suitable for ships with a draught of up to 14 m.

Supermaritime has been active for some time, but currently makes use of the Kloosterboer and Verbrugge terminals.

The cargo that is handled there for Supermaritime will now serve as a basis for the expansion of transhipment operations at the new terminal.

For vessel handling, Supermaritime will make use of Verbrugge's services; Verbrugge will, for example, make cranes available with a maximum lifting capacity of 100 tonnes.

Supermaritime is an international group of shipping companies, offering a comprehensive range of ship, cargo , logistics and freight related services in Africa, Latin America and Europe.
