October 27 - Baltic Air Charter Association (BACA) has announced the winners of its annual charter aviation awards with a maindeck, heavylift carrier taking top spot in the cargo charter category.

Russian carrier Volga-Dnepr Airlines was awarded the title of Best Cargo Charter Airline at the awards ceremony lunch held in London. Sports presenter and broadcaster John Inverdale hosted the event, which more than 250 people attended

 

"The event was sold out once again and we are pleased to see that the awards are gaining such great support throughout the aviation community," says Dick Gilbert, chairman, BACA.

 

BACA is the world's largest network for air charter professionals, representing the interests of commercial aviation companies particularly in the air charter industries and markets.

 

An equally prestigious award contest is nearing its final judging: the Freight Service Awards (FSA) organised by theBritish International Freight Association (BIFA).

 

In its Project Forwarding Award category, sponsored by OOCL, four project cargo forwarders are competing: Allseas Global LogisticsAtlantic Pacific Global LogisticsF.H. Bertling; and Global Logistics Management.

 

This year there is a taste of the beautiful game at the BIFA Awards as they will be hosted by former football referee, TV pundit and newspaper columnist, Graham Poll, one of the best known and most experienced English referees of all time. 

The award winners will be announced at the BIFA Annual Lunch and Awards Ceremony to be held at The Brewery, Chiswell Street, London EC1 on Thursday 20th January 2011.
