December 15 - Gebrüder Weiss and Röhlig have confirmed that their joint venture Weiss-Röhlig will be phased out in 2017, with both companies expressing their desire to operate in the market under their respective brand names.

Since 1999, Gebrüder Weiss and Röhlig have operated under the joint name in a number of overseas air and sea freight offices.

HLPFI reported in 2014 that both parties had taken a step towards independence with the restructuring of Weiss-Röhlig's shareholding structure.

Following the decision to dissolve Weiss-Röhlig, all the companies' joint offices will continue to operate and bear either the name Gebrüder Weiss or Röhlig, depending on which company is the owner of the respective operation.

The two logistics providers also ran a joint venture in the USA, which they intend to operate under separate brand names in the future. For this purpose, Gebrüder Weiss and Röhlig plan to form two independent companies out of the existing joint venture.

In a statement, Gebrüder Weiss and Röhlig said that business relations with their partners and clients will remain unaffected by these measures, as the companies will continue with their operational cooperation.

The renaming of the joint venture's various offices is scheduled to take place over the course of the coming year.
