July 22 - The American Association of Port Authorities' (AAPA) board of directors has elected Kristin Decas, ceo of California's Port of Hueneme, as incoming chair for its 2014-2015 activity year.

Decas took over as the Port of Hueneme's ceo and port director in 2012, after serving for five years as ceo and port director at the Port of New Bedford in Massachusetts.

"The upcoming activity year will be an exciting one and we look forward to Decas' leadership as AAPA continues to address the issues of most relevance and importance to all our member ports," said Kurt Nagle, AAPA president and ceo.

Nagle added that Decas had been an energetic and effective chair of the AAPA's Maritime Economic Development Committee, fostering collaborative processes to resolve industry challenges.
