September 4 - A.R.T. Logistics has tripled the frequency and capacity of its LTL service connecting Vilnius, Lithuania with Ulan Bator, Mongolia.

Issue 32 of HLPFI reported on Mongolia's booming economy and its movement into the mainstream global supply chain, in the May/June edition of the magazine. The development of mining operations in Mongolia is driving demand for transport services from Europe to the mine sites, since its mining industry contributes some 20 percent to the country's GDP and is predicted to rise to 30 percent in the coming years.

In light of this, since the launch of its LTL service in October 2012, A.R.T Logistics has increased the service from Europe to Mongolia to three times a month using three trucks. Using a team of experienced local drivers, the trucks cover the 7,000 km journey across harsh terrain in 11-13 days.

Future plans are to extend the Mongolia service to the North American market and eventually to Australia and South East Asia.
