The first BelugaXL aircraft has landed at Toulouse-Blagnac, France after completing its maiden flight over the south west of the country.

The aircraft is the first of five BelugaXLs to enter into service later in 2019 and to gradually replace the BelugaST transporters.

Following the first flight, which lasted four hours and 11 minutes, the BelugaXL will undergo some 600 hours of flight tests over ten months to achieve type certification.

The aircraft will operate from 11 destinations, transporting Airbus’ large aircraft components.
