Here is this week's round-up of capital projects and contracts.

This week we have seen China Three Gorges Corp (CTGC) sign an agreement with China National Nuclear Corp (CNNC) to develop USD10.9 billion worth of nuclear power assets in the People's Republic; ÅF will develop the E4 Stockholm Bypass, while Siemens Energy secured a USD829.74 million offshore wind contract from Statoil and Statkraft.

 

Aker Solutions has assembled one of its biggest engineering teams ever to deliver the initial plans for the engineering and design phase of the giant North Sea Johan Sverdrup oil deposit.

The work covers all four of the planned platforms for the first development phase, including the so-called topsides, jackets as well as bridges spanning the facilities.

China Three Gorges Corp (CTGC) has signed an agreement with China National Nuclear Corp (CNNC) to invest in nuclear power projects and to research and develop (R&D) new nuclear technologies, reports Power Engineering. CTGC, the country's largest hydropower provider, will jointly invest in domestic nuclear projects, including the promotion of the Taohuajiang nuclear plant in central China's Hunan Province, according to Xinhua news agency. The project is expected to cost USD10.9 billion and has a planned capacity of 5 GW.

Siemens Energy has received an order from Statoil and Statkraft for the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm in the UK. Siemens will manufacture, deliver, install and commission 67 Siemens direct-drive 6 MW wind turbines, each and equipped with a 154-meter rotor. Installation will start in early 2017. The combined value including a five-year-service contract is approximately GBP 500 million.

ÅF has won the contract to lead the construction management organisation for the rock tunnels in the northern parts of the E4 Stockholm Bypass called Johannelund, Lunda and Akalla.

The contract is estimated to be worth USD9 million and is one of Sweden's largest ever infrastructure projects. When complete, in about 10 years' time, the bypass will link the northern and southern parts of Stockholm County.

Skanska has signed a contract to act as general contractor for Facebook's data centre project in Luleå, Sweden. It will develop the entire infrastructure for the project, including utilities and roads. Skanska also will construct all sub-structures, concrete works and builds office and facilities buildings. The USD76.14 million contract will be completed in the first half of 2015.

Alfa Laval has won an order to supply Framo pumping systems to Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea. The order has a value of approximately USD34.48 million and delivery is scheduled for 2015.

CB&I has been awarded a contract by Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group for the license and engineering design of a grassroots petrochemicals complex to be built in Lingwu, Yinchuan City, Ningxia, People's Republic of China.

Gazprom Neft's is upgrading its Moscow Refinery, which will see it install new furnaces and renovating the existing ones, enabling the plant to increase furnace efficiency to 90 percent.

Energean Oil & Gas has launched a new USD225 million investment programme to develop 30 million barrels of reserves in North West Greece and to increase production from the Prinos, Prinos North and Epsilon fields to 10,000 bbls/day by 2016. The new investment programme involves the drilling of 15 wells and the installation of two new unmanned platforms for the Prinos North and Epsilon fields that will be tied back to the existing infrastructure Energean already operates.

Costain has signed two new contract extensions with its oil and gas clients. The Oil & Pipelines Agency ('OPA') has awarded Costain a one year contract extension to its three-year asset support contract for the operation and maintenance of the Government Pipeline and Storage System. Costain has also been secured an extension to its consulting contract with Premier Oil.
