April 10 - Greencarrier Freight Services has opened a new office in Minsk, Belarus, which will be managed by previous Vilnius branch manager, Aurimas Digrevicius.

The Belarus operation will initially run as a subsidiary of Greencarrier's Lithuania office, which is headed up by managing director, Marijus Zilinskas. Staff for the Minsk office are currently being recruited by Digrevicius.

"It is a natural expansion of our business in Lithuania to set up an office in Minsk," said Peter Nevhagen, ceo of Greencarrier. "We have managed cargo flows in and out of Belarus over the last few years and have studied the market carefully. We know that now the time is right to launch Greencarrier Freight Services BEL."

Zilinskas explained that the intention of the new office opening was to strength Greencarrier's existing products by being closer to its customers: "We will offer the full range of services including containerised ocean freight, ro-ro ocean services and air freight."

Greencarrier expects the main markets for road freight to be to and from Scandinavia, the UK, Poland and the Baltic countries.
