HongFa Shipping to launch liner service

November 24 - On January 10, 2015, HongFa Shipping is set to launch a new liner service between the Far East, Southeast Asia and the East Coast of South America.

The emerging carrier, which is based in Shanghai, was established in October 2011 by the Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Company (Chipolbrok).

HongFa Shipping's new liner service will offer an 'almost monthly' service, able to load containers, general, bulk and project cargoes, and will eventually deploy a fleet of four 36,000 dwt box-shaped triple-deck multipurpose ships, each equipped with three cranes. One will be able to lift 120 tonnes and two will be capable of lifting 260 tonnes, or 520 tonnes in tandem.

The shipping line has appointed NEPA Shipping as its general agent in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, the UK, France, Spain, Portugal, Turkey and Southeast Asia for all commercial and operational activities, with NEPA nominating sub-agents that include Antwerp Breakbulk Agencies for Belgium and Luxembourg; Aviship for France; and Kaleido Logistics in Spain and Portugal.

The newbuilding Chang Jiang will initiate the new service. The ship is one of four ordered by HongFa Shipping in 2013, which have three large box-shaped cargo holds, each with a length of 53 m and width of 23 m.

The shipping line claims that the new ships will be the largest and most modern multipurpose tonnage in this trade and will serve all major ports en route.

HongFa Shipping, as a ship manager, manages around 20 commercial vessels, providing a full range services. Its chartering and brokerage service covers all major markets and trades in the carriage of breakbulk and project cargoes.
