Dunkerque inaugurates Quai de Flandres extension

The port of Dunkerque has opened its extended quay at Terminal de Flandres.

Quai de Flandres is now 1,785 m long and nearly 1 km has been dredged to a depth of 17.3 m.

The work was carried out under Dunkerque-Port Project Management and was co-financed by the French state.

CMA CGM Group subsidiary Terminal Link, which owns 91 percent of Terminal de Flandres, also purchased three next-generation gantries, the last two of which will be delivered in early 2020.

Christine Cabau-Woehrel, executive vice president in charge of assets for CMA CGM Group, said: “The extension of the Quai de Flandres and the arrival of new gantries next year will strengthen the competitiveness of the Terminal de Flandres and, more generally, enhance the vitality of the port of Dunkerque.”

Stéphane Raison, president of the executive board of Dunkerque Port, added: “Thanks to this extension of the Quai de Flandres, the Terminal des Flandres and Dunkerque Port are underlining their aim to become a transhipment hub in Northern Europe and their position as a natural port for exporters and importers in the Hauts-de-France region.”
