Logistics Plus and Rhenus Project Logistics are joining forces to transport equipment for the modernisation of two lignite-fired coal power plants in Turkey.

As part of the project, Logistics Plus, based in the USA, and Germany’s Rhenus Project Logistics will handle the delivery of approximately 40,000 cu m of cargo, including five stators, each weighing 200 tonnes, and five 55-tonne rotors.

The heavy cargoes originate from Poland, Switzerland, Germany and China. Other equipment is also being sourced from various locations worldwide.

Logistics Plus global projects director Bahadir Erdil signed the agreement at the Rhenus Project Logistics US headquarters in New York.

Colin D’Abreo, president of Rhenus Project Logistics, Inc, said: "We realise that the world of project logistics is changing rapidly, and that our organisations need to focus on building new strategies and new partnerships that will enable them to create value in the future."

Logistics Plus global projects director Bahadir Erdil added that, as partners, the companies will utilise Rhenus Project Logistics' market position in Europe and Logistics Plus' network in Turkey and the Middle East for the project.

The project began in the fourth quarter of 2018 and will continue for approximately two years.
