September 1 - Modules for a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) destined for the Beni Suef power plant in Egypt have been loaded on board AAL's heavy lift ship AAL Dalian in South Korea.

Contracted by global logistics provider, LPL Group, this is the first in a series of cargo shipments that AAL will handle between Asia and the Red Sea for Siemens' Egyptian megaproject - which includes the development of three 4.8 MW combined power plants in Beni Suef, Burullus and New Capital.

"This is an incredibly important project for Siemens and indeed Egypt - one that will boost power generation capacity for the country by 50 percent to 16.4 GW," said Namir Khanbabi, managing director of AAL's tramp and projects division.

"Accordingly, we are providing Siemens with a comprehensive and dedicated solution that involves four of our owned 31,000 dwt A-Class vessels being deployed between Asia and the Red Sea."

Khanbabi added that the introduction of a semi-liner service between Asia and the Red Sea will give AAL's other multipurpose and heavy lift customers around the world access to an additional flexible bi-monthly service, strengthening the operator's capabilities to and from the Middle East.
