August 24 - South Carolina Ports Authority (SCPA) has reported 2015 fiscal year-end operating earnings of USD30.4 million and revenues of USD196.8 million, significant increases on 2014's financial performance.

Non-containerised cargo volumes were positive in July, with 163,490 tonnes handled. Charleston moved 83,440 tonnes during the month, 47.7 percent higher than planned breakbulk volumes. Tonnage was also ahead of plan at Georgetown in July, with 80,500 tonnes handled.

The positive financial results come on the heels of 14 percent container volume growth in the 2015 fiscal year. SCPA handled 1.9 million teu during the period, an increase on last year's 231,473 teu.

Growth at the Inland Port facility - opened in 2013 - has also been strong in recent months. During its first full fiscal year of operation, the Inland Port handled 58,407 total rail moves.

To meet growing volume demand at the Inland Port, the Board approved a transfer of three rubber-tyred gantry cranes from the Wando Welch Terminal to the terminal in Greer.
