June 24 - Allcargo Global Logistics is celebrating the first call of its new coastal shipping service at Mumbai port.
Two breakbulk ships have been acquired by Allcargo Global Logistics to operate the service and the first, AllcargoLaxmi was received by Shashi Kiran Shetty - chairman and managing director, Allcargo Global Logistics Ltd., V Kulkarni - deputy docks manager, Mumbai Port Trust, Capt. Ashok Kumar Shrivastava - senior vice president - Shipping Services, Allcargo Global Logistics Ltd as well as officials from M. Dinshaw & Co which handled the operations at Mumbai Port. The vessel loaded export cargo of steel pipes and sailed for Burma (Myanmar).
Allcargo Global Logistics reports that it is seeing strategic growth in all areas of its business which includes NVOCC, CFS & ICD, Project & Engineering & third party logistics in India

The 6,262 dwt Allcargo Laxmi and the 6,617 dwt Allcargo Arathi are Japanese made (1992), geared, single decker and box shaped, with one currently operating on the west coast and the other on the eastern side: transporting breakbulk cargo such as pipes, coal, steel coils, bagged commodities, minerals etc.
Allcargo says that the vessels are modern and well maintained featuring two x 25 tonne cranes which provide an outreach of 20 m and are useful for movement of transhipment cargoes from major to minor ports
