November 13 - Switzerland headquartered Allseas is set to build a second single-lift platform installation and decommissioning vessel.

The new vessel will have a width of 160 m and will be capable of lifting topside structures weighing as much as 72,000 tonnes. The vessel, when commissioned in 2020, will be used for worldwide topside installation and decommissioning projects.

Construction work on Pieter Schelte - the first single-lift platform installation and decommissioning vessel that Allseas designed, which has an approximate lifting capacity of 36,000 tonnes - began in spring 2010; Allseas says that Pieter Schelte should enter revenue generating service in the coming months.
