November 16 - The Port of Hamburg handed 1.5 million tonnes of non-containerised cargo in the first nine months of 2015 - down 8.5 percent year-on-year.

Despite a rise in imports of non-containerised general cargo, the port authority noted that exports of heavy lift and project cargoes, vehicles, iron and steel were down compared with the previous year.

The Port of Hamburg also saw a drop in overall cargo throughput in the first nine months of 2015, with total volumes 4.8 percent lower than the same period last year. Container throughput was down 9.2 percent year-on-year in the reporting period.

The German port attributed this decrease to weakness in Chinese foreign trade, as well as the steep downturn in trade with Russia.
