July 22 - DA KANG, the second of eight 28,000 dwt Da Type III heavy lift ships being acquired by COSCO Shipping, has been christened and delivered at Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (NACKS), entering into operation immediately.

DA KANG is 179.5 m long, 28 m wide and has a draft of 14.8 m.

Its hold capacity is 37,000 cu m and it has a maximum hatchway clearance of up to 51.75 m × 23.2 m.

COSCO Shipping says that with single lifting capacity up to 350 tonnes and tandem lifting capacity up to 700 tonnes, the vessel is suitable for carrying over dimensional and heavy cargoes, or 1,000 teu.
