June 26 - Ocean towage and heavy lift transportation company, Fairmount Marine has managed the towage of the West Ariel jack-up rig from Vung Tau, Vietnam, to Singapore.

The towage was performed by the company's tug, Fairmount Summit, taking seven days to cover the 1,305 km journey with an average speed of 4 knots.

The West Ariel, a KFels B class independent leg cantilever jack-up rig, was built in 2008 by Keppels Fels, Singapore and is owned by UK-based Seadrill Ltd. It is 73 m long, weighs 10,352 tonnes and can drill up to a depth of 9,144 m.

For this job Fairmount Summit was mobilised from Singapore and handed over to local harbour tugs when the convoy arrived back in Singapore.
