January 9 - In late 2011, German heavy lift crane provider Franz Bracht Kran-Vermietung (FBK) has supplied its newly acquired Terex CC 2800-1 to a bridge construction project in the Oberkassel district of D

The lattice boom crawler crane was required to hoist four structural steelwork elements into place, while operating under the challenging conditions involved in a construction site right in the middle of Düsseldorf.

Two of the lifts involved in the project turned out to be especially complex and ambitious. The first lift consisted of lifting a 55 tonne bridge segment over a four lane street, while hindered by local buildings.

The Terex® CC 2800-1 (pictured below) is a lattice boom crawler crane that can be converted from a standard crane to a special-purpose crane for projects such as wind turbine projects - and back - with only a few special components. The standard carrier is available in duo or quadro drive and a narrow-track version, the latter allowing the crane to move through 5.3 m wide roads.

Meanwhile, Demag Cranes' innovative training concept has won a coveted International Bulk Journal (IBJ) award in the People Development category (cargo handling). The award was presented as a result of the intensive training concept for crane drivers that replaces cost and time-intensive training on a crane owner's own machines on-site.
