March 11 - Intermarine has marked the beginning of its 'Fleet of the Future' deliveries with the maiden voyage of the new 20,000 dwt multipurpose vessel Industrial Grand.

Industrial Grand, which has three cranes with a combined lifting capacity of up to 900 tonnes, is the first of 20 new eco-friendly heavy lift vessels that will join Intermarine's fleet during the next 30 months. The new vessel will be joined shortly by its sister ship, Industrial Glory, which will enter Intermarine's service in May 2015.

Industrial Grand will make its maiden voyage from Shanghai, China to the US Gulf Coast carrying components of a large petrochemical processing tower, weighing up to 720 tonnes and measuring 48.6 m long.

Al Stanley, president and ceo of Intermarine, said that the Industrial Grand represents a "glimpse into the future" with its eco-friendly technology and increased lifting capacity.

"The Industrial Grand is ideally suited to carry a broad range of cargoes and its features allow it to operate in remote locations around the world," added Frank Fischer, vice president and managing director of tonnage procurement at Intermarine.
