January 23 - Volga-Dnepr Airlines has transported a 15-tonne piece of mining equipment from Anapa to Murmansk in Russia.

The item, which forms part of a rock-breaking machine, was delivered onboard one of the airline's IL-76TD-90VD freighter aircraft, which was organised for Russian mining and smelting company Norilsk Nickel.

To load the 3 m wide cargo, which Volga-Dnepr says resembled a giant teacup, the company was required to transport special equipment from Ulyanovsk to Anapa, as well as organise cranes at the departure and arrival points.

Volga-Dnepr also coordinated the road transportation of the mining equipment from Murmansk Airport to its final destination in the town of Zapolyarnyi.
