May 10 - Hamburg-based shipping line, Hansa Heavy Lift has been making news with new staff, new ships and new offices.

Shipping industry veteran Kirk Hoffman has joined the line as head of America, based in the line's Houston office. He will manage a team engaged in chartering, operations and CSI.

Hansa has also taken delivery of HHL Kobe, its 10th P2 class vessel, completing its newbuilding programme. The line's fleet now counts 21 ships: seven F-class vessels and 14 P1 and P2 class vessels. The average age of the vessels is less than two years, and they have lifting capacities ranging from 300 tonnes to 1,400 tonnes.

Additionally, two ships - HHL Lisbon and HHL Bilbao - entered the fleet after successful negotiations with the Qingshan shipyard following a commercial dispute with the yard.

In Singapore, Hansa has located its new Asia headquarters to Millenia Tower in downtown Singapore. In the past, Singapore and the entire Far East have shown a continued and dynamic growth with regards to project related cargo for the line. The relocation to a larger office represents an obvious result of hard work, continuous progress and a bright future within the heavy lift market, notes the company.

In the Middle East, Kanoo Group now represents the line in the Gulf states. The agency will broaden the line's representation in key project cargo and heavy lift markets, says the Hansa.
