April 30 - Jack-Up Barge has acquired an Odin self-elevating platform from Hochtief.
The platform has been named JB 119 and will join Jack-Up Barge's pre-existing fleet of six self-elevating platforms. JB 119 is 46.1 m long, 30 m wide and 4.6 m high, and its 60 m legs enable operation in water depths of up to 45 m.
Jack-Up Barge commercial director Maarten Hardon commented on the acquisition: "Currently the platforms we operate are generally for either large or small-scale operations. This acquisition will enable us to offer a mid-scale platform in the future."
The platform comes equipped with a Liebherr BOS 7500 heavy lift crane that has a 300-tonne lift capacity at an outreach of 15 m. The maximum reach of the boom is 84 m to accommodate offshore wind installations.
Hardon added that the platform's specifications make it suitable for use as a coastal unit carrying out civil construction work or for small offshore wind installation projects. Jack-Up Barge has already secured an eight-month contract in South America for JB 119, scheduled to start in May 2014.
Jack-Up Barge intends to expand its fleet further with a new build platform they will name JB 120.
