January 14 - One of the world's largest floating cranes, Left Coast Lifter, has begun its four-day voyage through the Panama Canal en route to New York, USA.

The crane departed from Oakland, California on December 22, 2013 accompanied by tug boats and is expected to arrive in New York at the end of January. Left Coast Lifter will be used on the New NY Bridge construction project being developed by Tappan Zee Constructors.

Left Coast Lifter, which is owned by two companies that make up Tappan Zee Constructors, has a lift capacity of 1,800 tonnes with an overall boom length of 100 m.
