February 14 - All investigations concluded to date by the Liebherr crane experts have shown that its LR 11350 crane was not the cause of the accident at the Itaquerao Stadium in Sao Paulo on November 27, 2013.

Liebherr reports that the crane model in question had no technical defects, and instead it is believed that the ground was not sufficiently stable for crane travel with a suspended load on the day of the accident.

Investigations show that after the ground had given way, the crane sank and in doing so, reached an inclined position at which it was not allowed to operate, which caused overloading of the crane and led to the fracture of its components before the crane's collapse.

The cause of the accident as determined by Liebherr's analysis can be confirmed by subsequent static-load calculations, and the crane manufacturer assumes that all reports being prepared about the accident will reach the same conclusion.

Liebherr has said that it will continue to do everything in its power to help bring the accident investigation to a speedy and logical conclusion and is still cooperating closely with the Brazilian authorities.
