July 15 - Mammoet has transported and installed 16 water tanks, which will supply drinking water to the rural township of Bushbuck Ridge in South Africa.

The transport is part of a larger project to solve the infrastructural problem of clean drinking water supply in rural areas across the African nation, which has been made more critical due to the country's worsening drought.

Manufactured by Hydra-Arc in Secunda, the water tanks were produced in three sections, each with a diameter of 6.3 m and weighing in between 8 and 10 tonnes.

The 16 tanks were transported, in their three sections, on multi-axle trailers pulled by prime movers.

On arrival at the installation site, Mammoet unloaded the sections using a 60-tonne capacity mobile crane, before employing a 110-tonne mobile crane to lift each section into place.
