January 26 - Maxim Crane has begun taking delivery of an additional 13 crawler cranes from Manitowoc, ranging in capacity from 400 to 825 tonnes.

Delivery of the cranes is scheduled for completion by the end of the first quarter of 2016.

Maxim Crane ceo Bryan Carlisle explained that the company has just experienced the most successful year in its history, and is now focusing on expanding its fleet of large capacity cranes.

"The addition of the five new Manitowoc 16000's and eight of the new VPC (variable position counterweight) class of crawlers right now, rather than waiting, has given our customers a tremendous advantage and multiple options for their complex lifting operations," added Frank Bardonaro, president of sales at Maxim Crane.

"We felt that by taking delivery of these new cranes now and in addition to the new cranes planned over the next several years, Maxim will be able to remain ahead of the curve and not wait for new products to be introduced and tested over the next few years."

Rob Schultz, vice president of Maxim's crawler crane division, explained that the company is currently concentrating on the specialised needs of its customers in the heavy lift and rigging sector.

For this reason, he said, Maxim is investing in Manitowoc cranes with the VPC system, which should provide its customers with better lifting solutions on projects where site access and ground preparation are critical to the project.
