October 10 - Schmidbauer employed a Modulift spreader beam to help lift 30 monopiles, weighing around 750 tonnes each, at the Port of Cuxhaven in Germany.

Operator of the German port, Cuxport, contracted Schmidbauer to provide a solution for lifting the monopiles, which were destined for the Nordsee One offshore wind farm, using an existing gantry crane at the port.

However, the gantry and its attached beam was only capable of lifting up to 500 tonnes.

Since the existing beam was not suitable for the monopile lifts, Schmidbauer used one of its MOD 400/600 beams as an inverted spreader, which offered a capacity of 600 tonnes at 12 m.

The units were hoisted in a tandem lift involving the gantry attached with the Modulift beam and a Liebherr crawler crane. Once lifted, the monopiles were loaded onto barges for delivery to Ambau.
