April 2 - Flensborg and Associates, a Munich-based sales and consulting firm, has announced that Albert Pegg, senior advisor at Antwerp Port Authority, will be wielding the starter's gun at this year's Business Run, which will take place in Antwerp in May

The Business Run combines athletics, networking and charitable fundraising for professionals in the heavy lift and breakbulk industries, with visitors and exhibitors from the Breakbulk Europe Conference and Exhibition participating.

Hundreds of runners have taken part in previous Business Runs in cities including Antwerp, Houston, Singapore, New Orleans, Munich, and Shanghai, with thousands of dollars being raised for charitable causes.

The Business Run event circuit is the brainchild of coordinators Anders and Katrin Flensborg, who lead Flensborg and Associates.

The upcoming 15th Business Run in Antwerp, will start at 07:30 on May 15, 2013, offering a choice of two routes: 5 km for less ambitious runners and a 10 km for more athletic participants, with the start and finish point at the Hilton Hotel.

As well as HLPFI, sponsors include Clipper Projects, Port of Antwerp, Ceres Barge Line, Albacor Shipping, Texas Terminals, Zuidnatie Breakbulk nv, Heavy International Services, Port of Houston, CSX and Journal of Commerce.

The participation fee is a very affordable EUR25.00, with all the proceeds being donated to a local charitable organisation based in Anwterp called TEJO, which offers first-line therapeutic counselling to young people with mental disorders.

HLPFI will once again be represented by Luke King and Ian Matheson, who is looking forward to beating his last place finish in last year's event - "someone had to look after the stragglers", he quipped.
