July 12 - Austria's most environmentally-friendly football stadium with 8,000 seats and five VIP boxes, due for completion next year, has been helped along by Brunn Gebirge, Austria-based mobile cranes and work platform provider Prangl.

The St Pölten stadium's wooden roof hovers over a circular landscape comprised of green mounds of earth surrounding the rectangular playing field. With a surface area of approx. 14,000 cu m, the wooden roof structure should be one of Europe's largest.

Prangl were called upon for the transport and installation of the 60 main roof girders. The main girders were designed as bonded double girders. The overall length of the girders ranged from 21 to 47.5m. The girders range from 1.4 to 2m in depth.

The transport of the bonded wood girders posed a considerable challenge; however, the roof elements were transported from Trofaiach through Traboch and then Semmering to St. Pölten without any complications.
