October 17 - A total of 18 Terex CTT flat top tower cranes are assisting in the construction of the City Circle Line, the fourth and final phase of the construction project for the Copenhagen Metro in Denmark.

The project is being built by a consortium of companies, the Copenhagen Metro Team (CMT), which has purchased the 18 tower cranes. The Terex CTT 231 models have maximum lift capacities of up to 12 tonnes, with different under hook heights and jib lengths.

CMT purchased the cranes as part of the 'Full Terex Package' which includes expert advice on configuration, positioning, erection, maintenance, training and support. Terex also helped with the logistics involved in delivering the cranes into the busy city centre.

Work on the new line started in 2012 and when it is finally completed in 2018, the new 16 km City Circle Line will feature a total of 17 stations, increasing the number of Metro stations to 37, and carry about 275,000 passengers each day, tying together Copenhagen's different neighbourhoods and making moving around the city easier, faster and more convenient.

"This is a complex contract made more difficult because of the situation in the centre of Copenhagen. These CTT tower cranes are designed for working on confined sites and have very good lift capacities - it is early days but at the moment we are very pleased with the investment," says Eliseo Marsiglio, CMT's project manager.
