August 19 - Bangkok-based forwarder The Freight Co has recently completed transport work involved in the enlargement of the Burrup Materials Facility in northwestern Australia.

Located at King Bay, Dampier, a major industrial port in the north-west of Western Australia, the materials loading facility is being developed to support the Pluto LNG project.

The Freight Co was awarded a contract to transport pontoons and components for the enlargement of the facility. This required the sourcing of a suitable geared heavy lift ship to load the cargo at Vung Tau Port in Vietnam and shipment to Dampier Port in Australia.

A special spreader bar had to be ordered to lift the pontoons that weighed up to 168 tonnes onboard the ship. Components in the 700-tonne consignment ranged from two 25-tonne struts to a 168-tonne pontoon.

The Freight Co is also member of the Global Project Logistics Network (GPLN).
