J&B installs for Acco

USA-based overhead lifting equipment distributer, J&B Equipment, has installed a circular crane and other lifting gear at an aerospace testing facility.

Acco Material Handling Solutions provided the specialised solution. The scope of work covered the design and installation of a system for moving jet engines to and from test cells. The engines need to be moved at varying speeds and with great precision throughout the testing process.

To achieve this, Acco supplied a Louden monorail, a circular (360-degree curve), along with other cranes and work-rated hoists.

John Jones, district sales manager at Acco, said that the circular crane is used to rotate the jet engines into position before it is interlocked with a monorail system that transports the unit to other areas of the facility.

Jones added: “J&B received an enquiry from the end user and brought the challenge to us. We then combined with them to make a system that would meet the customer’s stringent requirements – safely and efficiently. There is always a lot of back and forth at this stage to innovate and create new solutions for special applications.”
