October 6 - F.H. Bertling has been awarded a long term contract for the global provision of freight forwarding, freight management and project logistics services to further support BP's worldwide operations.

The contract is the result of an extensive BP evaluation process and follows on from the existing long relationship that Bertling has with BP for the provision of these services to support BP's projects and operations in the Caspian region.

Bertling says that the contract provides an opportunity for it to work more closely with BP in a new collaborative relationship to reduce operational risk, further improve safety performance, enhance the take up of developed technologies and provide greater TCO value within BP's logistics supply chains throughout the world.

The company clarifies TCO as covering total cost of ownership and in the context of freight and logistics management involves Bertling creating and adding value throughout BP's logistics and supply chains. By constantly measuring time and value as well as price and by reengineering processes Bertling says it will, over the period of the contract, help BP to reduce its total costs.
