DSV Panalpina has started operating a Boeing 747-8 freighter three times per week, east and westbound, between Huntsville, Alabama in the USA (HSV) and Shanghai (PVG) to cope with capacity constraints caused by the coronavirus outbreak in China.
Due to the risk of spreading coronavirus (COVID-19), multiple airlines have either suspended or reduced the number of flights to and from mainland China. DSV Panalpina estimates that there has been a 5,000 tonne reduction in available capacity per day.
