Egyptian Global Logistics (EGL) has transported three transformers for the Benban solar power project, located in the eastern region of the Sahara Desert.

The transformers weighed 100 tons (90.7 tonnes) each and were transported from three separate locations: Etay, Wadi El Natrun and Asyut.

For the road transport, EGL utilised Mercedes trucks and Goldhofer modular trailers. Once at the site, EGL jacked and skidded the transformers into position using equipment from Enerpac.

In addition to the transformers, EGL was responsible for the delivery of more than 500 containers from the port of Alexandria, located 1,100 km from the project site.

The project was completed on behalf of the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy.
