India-based Express Global Logistics recently handled eight heavy transformer and reactors, plus accessories, from the port of Mumbai to Ziguinchor, Senegal, via the port of Dakar.

Four units weighed 55 tonnes each, while the remaining four cargoes tipped the scales at 48 tonnes a pieces. The cargoes, which were destined for a power plant project, were shipped in two lots.

The final project site, which was 900 km away from Dakar port, was challenging to reach due to the height of the pieces. At certain points of the road haulage operation, overhead cables were temporarily removed. This was completed in conjunction with the Senegalese road authorities and the state electricity department.

“We are also handling a total of 50 containers carrying the accessories of these heavy units from Nhava Sheva to Dakar," added an Express Global Logistics representative.

Express Global Logistics is a member of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) network, representing India.
