Spain’s Ibarrondo Group has purchased a 750-tonne lifting capacity Liebherr LG 1750 mobile crane with a SL20F2 boom system.

The SL20F2 boom is based on the Liebherr SX system, with boom extensions measuring 3.5 m wide. According to Liebherr, only one additional component is required for the extension from the SX system to the SL20F2.

At a hook height of 113 m, the boom system has a lifting capacity of 140 tonnes. Liebherr says this makes it ideal for the erection of wind turbines with towers measuring up to 100 m in height.

A 400-tonne capacity head for hoisting heavy loads can also be installed on the system instead of the lattice fly jib.

Mikel Ibarrondo, managing director of the group, said the company decided on the mobile crane version, rather than the LG 1750 crawler crane, as a result of its better mobility and slightly higher lifting capacity.

According to Ibarrondo, the crane will be used for the construction of wind farms. It will also be utilised for industrial applications as well as for heavy lifting operations at chemical plants and other construction projects.
