Austria’s A. Kothmaier Transport, located in Mondsee, has acquired a range of CombiMAX trailers and accessories from Luxembourg-headquartered manufacturer Faymonville.

Kothmaier’s ceo, Alexander Kothmaier, said that the versatile nature of the equipment was a key reason for the investment decision: “These days flexibility is the name of the game,” adding that constantly changing requirements demand vehicles that are highly adaptable.

The order included two goosenecks; two, three and four-axle axle bogies; one of Faymonvilles’s versatile ‘Joker’ axles; one add-on beam; an excavator bed; plus one six-axle loading platform featuring pendle axle (PA-X) technology and an excavator trough.

Kothmaier said the equipment “can be used in a number of ways … the combination option with the six-axle PA-X bogie is of great interest to us.” The model features a 790 mm loading height, 60-degree steering angle and 600 mm stroke.

Faymonville said the PA-X loading surface is equipped with the biggest excavator trough available on the market: 4,240 mm long and 440 mm deep with a breadth of 900 mm.

Kothmaier said that the trailer will give the company a competitive advantage in the market. “In the case of high axle load concentrations, it is possible to gain extra length by using the installable telescopic centre beam (add-on beam). This means that heavy weights and long goods can be transported easily,” he added.
