German crane service provider Nolte-Autokrane has utilised a Liebherr LG 1750 lattice boom mobile crane to hoist 90-tonne steel lock gates in Büsum.

As part of a refurbishment project, all six gates had to be removed and reinstalled. In addition to the LG 1750 lattice boom mobile crane, a 200-tonne capacity LTM 1200-5.1 mobile crane was also on the site to handle the set-up work.

An MK 88 mobile construction crane was also used for the project to complete minor hoisting work and build the emergency barrier, made of steel girders and a large number of pipes, which was required to seal the dry dock chamber from the sea and the dock.

The LG 1750, with a lifting capacity of 750 tonnes, hoisted the gates, which measured 12 m wide and 16 m high, out of their anchorings over the barrage housing and placed them in a frame on the bottom of the drained dock chamber for refurbishment work.

To handle the loads at a radius of up to 67 m, the crane was configured with a 49 m lattice boom, a 56 m luffing jib and a derrick boom.
